Power Engineer Wages

Higher than most trades and techologies

Power engineers have different wages based on their certification and where they choose to work.

A power engineer working in the oil and gas in remote areas of Canada will have a much greater income than a power engineer who wishes to stay in the Lower Mainland. In fact, operating engineers in the oil and gas industry can make well over $100,000 per year (without factoring in the over time).

Power engineers will often find themselves working in unionized environments and companies are competing for skilled power engineers (by providing benefits, incentives, assistance with relocation and sometimes hiring bonuses that can buy you a truck).

Some BCIT students got summer jobs that paid, on average, $30 to $35 per hour and had net-incomes of around $20,000 over a three-month period.

In terms of job demand, just do a quick Google search.
